As Microsoft’s new Edge browser is based on Chromium, it has most of the features available in the Chrome browser. One feature which was missing in the Edge for Android is Experimental features.
FYI, Experimental features are the feature which company release behind the flags. Interested users can manually those features, take a sneak peek of what new is coming to the browser.
Experimental feature was available in Edge browser for desktop from the day when Microsoft rolled out first stable build of Edge browser. Unfortunately, the same feature was missing in Edge for Android.
Microsoft Edge for Android Experiments (edge://flags)
Starting with Microsoft Edge v45.06.24.5042, the company finally added support for testing Experimental features. It means you can test experimental features by enabling flags just like in Edge for desktop. The process to get access to Edge for the Android experimental feature is the same. You need to launch Edge browser and visit edge://flags As of writing this blog post, there’s only one experimental feature called Experimental Web Platforms features which is disabled out of the box. To enable the same feature, using the drop-down change the settings from Disabled to Enabled. Tap Relaunch now button to apply the changes. At any point, you want to reset all the flags to default settings, then tap on the “Reset all to default” button available on the upper right corner. Microsoft Edge v45.06.24.5042 is in the beta stage and not available via play store. In case, you want to try the feature, then you can download the apk from this link and sideload it on your phone. It is expected that there will be more experimental features in this list when Microsoft adds support for experimental features in a stable version of Edge.
